The 2025 theme emphasizes unity, shared heritage, and collective progress as we honor our past while building a brighter future together.
The Anlo Dukor is the supreme traditional governing body of the 36 states of Anlo, located in the southern part of Ghana’s Volta Region. It serves as the unifying authority that brings together the various Traditional Councils under one leadership, upholding the values, customs, and heritage of the Anlo people. Rooted in centuries of history and guided by ancestral wisdom, the Anlo Dukor represents both the cultural soul and political organization of the Anlo State.
At the heart of the Anlo Dukor’s leadership is the Awoamefia of Anlo, the Paramount Ruler and Spiritual Head, who embodies the unity, dignity, and cultural identity of the Anlo nation. Supporting him is the Awadada of Anlo, the Warlord and traditional Prime Minister, who oversees the administration of the state, coordinates the activities of the various chiefs, and ensures the maintenance of peace, order, and justice across the Anlo territories.

The Anlo Dukor’s authority extends across the three principal divisions of the state — Lashibi (Right Wing), Adotri (Central Wing), and Lashie (Left Wing) — encompassing coastal, lagoon, and inland communities. These divisions collectively form the Anlo State Council, which guides decision-making on traditional governance, cultural affairs, and communal development.

Among its many cultural responsibilities, the Anlo Dukor spearheads the annual Hogbetsotso Festival, a grand celebration that unites all 36 states of Anlo. The festival commemorates the legendary exodus of the Ewe people from Notsie and serves as a living expression of unity, reconciliation, and cultural pride. It attracts thousands of participants and visitors from Ghana and abroad, showcasing the Anlo people’s enduring values of resilience, discipline, and togetherness.

Through its visionary and inclusive leadership, the Anlo Dukor continues to guide the evolution of traditional governance while promoting peace, cultural preservation, and socio-economic progress. It remains the central pillar of identity and continuity, binding the Anlo people through shared history, mutual respect, and a collective vision for development and prosperity.
